Nancy Howze
A true adventurer at heart, Nancy moved to San Miguel de Allende in 1998 at the age of 50, ready to reinvent her life. With her children grown and her curiosity piqued by stories of this colorful colonial town, she decided to see it for herself. One week was all it took—she was captivated by the warmth of the people, the richness of the culture, and the vibrant community of expats living full, joyful lives.
Describing herself as a “leaper,” Nancy returned home to Birmingham, Alabama, sold her house, packed up her dog, and drove to Mexico without knowing a soul or speaking Spanish. Her boldness paid off. Within a few years, she had built a thriving network of friends and colleagues and discovered her calling in real estate.
In 2004, Nancy partnered with Jim Dolan to co-found CDR San Miguel Real Estate, which has since grown into one of Mexico’s leading luxury brokerages. In 2021, CDR became a founding member of Forbes Global Properties, aligning San Miguel with some of the world’s most prestigious markets.
Today, Nancy continues to work full time as a Principal Broker, helping clients find their place in this remarkable city. She is deeply involved in the community, supporting local NGOs such as Casita Linda, and she remains inspired by the beauty and vitality of San Miguel—its people, its traditions, and its enduring sense of possibility.
Nearly three decades later, Nancy still calls San Miguel home—and says with a smile that she plans to stay forever.
