Ann Dolan
Originally from Memphis, Tennessee, Ann Dolan has called San Miguel de Allende home for nearly three decades. In 1990, she and her husband Jim set out with a bold vision: to live abroad, learn another language, and create their own businesses. That dream flourished beyond their expectations in San Miguel, where Ann became a pioneer in the local real estate industry and a bridge between cultures, building community while raising a family in one of the world’s most celebrated towns.
In 1995, while Jim was deployed in Europe, Ann arrived in what was then a sleepy colonial town of cobblestone streets and wandering burros, guided by her adventurous spirit. With her longtime friend Sally Gibson – a fellow Memphian who had discovered San Miguel years before her - they founded Casas de San Miguel, the city’s first full-service property management, rental, and sales company. By the time the company was sold in 2000, it had grown to manage more than 80 homes and 175 rentals, while also fueling a thriving real estate component. Today, Ann serves as a Global Real Estate Advisor with CDR San Miguel | Forbes Global Properties and as a founding member and Advisory Board member of REALM Global, where she connects clients to extraordinary properties across the globe.
Alongside her career, Ann and Jim raised three children in San Miguel. Their kids grew up bilingual and bicultural, immersed in traditions, fiestas, and the everyday magic of Mexican life. Ann has been deeply engaged in education and community, including 6 years serving as a Board Member at her children’s elementary bilingual school, José Vasconcelos, and more recently as a member of the Parents Board at Culver Academies in the U.S. She now serves on the Chancellor’s Advisory Board at Texas Christian University.
Nearly 30 years later, the Dolans remain deeply rooted in San Miguel, where friendships, culture, and opportunities to belong are woven into the fabric of daily life.
